Business Attire

Business attire is the minimum expected dress format.

For Men: This means slacks, dress shirt and Jacket. Ties are optional.

For Women: Female attendees have a bit more leeway. Slacks, blouses, cocktail dresses, skirts, suits, sweaters.... any and all are acceptable as long as you are dressed appropriately.

Non Acceptable: T-shirts, Jeans, Sandals, Hawaiian Shirts, Beachwear, Baseball Caps, and anything overly casual.

Cigar Exchange

The Cigar Exchange is the portion of the evening where all members and guests move around the venue greeting new faces and exchanging a Cigar as an icebreaker.

All attendees must bring their own cigars to smoke as well as 2 additional cigars for the "cigar exchange" portion of the evening.

The DMC was the very first "Smoking Optional" Cigar Club in San Diego. While this is, in fact, a cigar club, members and guests are not required or expected to smoke cigars while in attendance. We often have guests and some members who do not smoke at all. So you will not need to feel pressured to "light up" during the meeting if you fit into this category. However, all attendees will still need to bring at least 2 cigars to exchange with other attendees.

If you are unfamiliar with purchasing a cigar, simply head to any cigar shop and the proprietor will help you pick some out. You may also email our CEO, Loran Kelley, at Lk3@DMC-Cigar.com and he will be more than happy to assist you!

Business Cards

Be sure to bring plenty of business cards to exchange with other attendees! DMC meetings are all about networking and we want to be able to exchange contact information with you easily.

In this age of technology with social media, smartphones, iPads, etc. it is easy to think you can jot down someone's name and info and remember who they are. However, at a DMC event, when you are meeting with so many people, you can forget a person's name, email, or social media page quite easily if you don't have something tangible to remind you whom to reconnect with after the event. Regardless of the all technology in everyday life, there is still a need for adding a personal touch, such as a business card, to your networking strategy.
